The Development of Anti-Glycation Food Materials

At ARKRAY Group Karada Lab, Inc., we have leveraged the medical field expertise we have cultivated through the development of clinical testing instruments and testing reagents to develop functional food materials, which have been backed by evidence obtained in clinical trials and other research. In late October 2024, we exhibited a booth at the Health Ingredients Japan 2024 held at Tokyo Big Sight showcasing our main products, AG Herb MIX and Satonaceil, and gave a presentation targeted at acquiring new customers. Since this exhibition attracts many health and nutritional food product manufacturers and trading companies, we put a lot of effort into exhibiting at this event every year.

As a pioneer in diabetes testing, ARKRAY has been conducting research on and development of medical testing instruments and testing reagents. With particular focus on the fact that a glycation reaction, which contributes to diabetic complications, is also involved in the aging process, we established Karada Lab, Inc., which conducts research on food materials and other associated components with anti-glycation effects, based on the idea that "preventing glycation leads to disease prevention and anti-aging". The internal organs and skin that make up the body are mainly composed of proteins. The glycation reaction, in which these proteins react with excessive consumption of sugar, produces substances linked to the aging process called advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Once glycated, proteins cannot revert back. Therefore, two approaches are important for countermeasures against glycation: the inhibition of glycation and the excretion of glycation products.

AG Herb MIX was launched in 2006 as the industry's first anti-glycation food material and is a 'defense' material that inhibits glycation. We then went on to subsequently launch Satonaceil, an 'offense' food material that excretes glycation products. Both materials have anti-glycation properties and are effective for anti-aging and improving skin texture. Karada Lab, Inc. will continue its research as a pioneer in anti-glycation food materials and promote the spread of functional food materials by making full use of exhibitions and other opportunities.
